NEW LONDON, Conn. (Dec. 10, 2025) – The USMMA wrestling team lost its road dual meet to arch-rival #15 Coast Guard, 40-3, on Wednesday night at the Bears' Billard Hall. The Mariners' record drops to an even 2-2 on the season with the setback, while CGA improves to 1-4 in victory.

Sophomore
Logan Weaver (Suwanee, Ga.) picked up the lone victory of the night for the Mariners with a 5-4 decision at 157 after an impressive third-period comeback over the Bears' Jacob Woodburn, who is regionally ranked #3.
Â
Weaver trailed 4-0 going into the final frame before earning an escape and then tying it up with a takedown in the final minute before being awarded the fifth point due to a stall by Woodburn.
Â
CGA closed out the meet with five-straight wins, but had a team point taken away at the end of the match due to unsportsmanlike conduct.
Â
The Mariners are back in action this Saturday, Dec. 13, when they travel to nearby Garden City, N.Y., to take part in the Nassau Open hosted by Nassau Community College beginning at 9 a.m.
