Grace Jackson (Parma, Idaho) surpassed the 1,000-point milestone and registered one of three double-doubles as the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's basketball team won its seventh-straight game and remained unbeaten in Skyline play with a 67-50 victory at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn. USMMA improved to 8-1 (7-0 Skyline), while St. Joseph's-Brooklyn fell to 2-8 (1-6 Skyline).

Jackson entered the contest needing just seven points to reach the 1,000-point mark and finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds to help lead USMMA. Junior
Hannah Ramsden (Port Aransas, Texas) made 3-of-5 3-pointers as part of a 19-point, 11-rebound effort, while freshman
Carolae Barton (Waldorf, Md.) made 9-of-11 free throws and finished with 15 points and 15 rebounds. The Mariners shot just 30.9 percent (21-of-68) from the floor, but made 20-of-27 free throws (74.1 percent) and posted a +25 margin (62-37) on the glass.
Mercedes Perez had an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double to pace St. Joseph's-Brooklyn. The Bears shot only 27.9 percent from the floor (19-of-68) and 25.0 percent from distance (6-of-24), while attempting just eight free throws (6-of-8, 75.0 percent).
A pair of 3s helped the Bears jump out to an 8-4 lead before Ramsden scored four points as part of a 6-0 run that put USMMA on top, 10-8, with 6:02 on the clock. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn took the lead right back with a 3-pointer and the Bears still led by one with 4:04 to go. Jackson then put USMMA back on top with a 3 that opened an 11-2 run to close out the quarter and give the Mariners a 25-17 lead.
The teams combined to miss the first 14 shots of the second quarter as the score went unchanged until the 4:16 mark when the Bears made a jumper. The Bears eventually scored the first seven points of the quarter as the Mariners saw their lead trimmed to one, 25-24, with 3:17 left. The Bears came no closer than one and a late Ramsden 3 gave the Mariners a 34-28 lead at halftime.
Ramsden and Jackson each made a 3-pointer as part of a 10-0 run that opened the third quarter and gave the Mariners a 44-28 lead at the 7:23 mark. The lead was still 15 when the Mariners scored the final six points of the quarter to make it a 21-point margin.

Sydney Brown (Northville, Mich.) opened the scoring in the fourth and gave USMMA its largest lead of the contest, 59-36, at the 9:37 mark. The Bears responded with a 9-0 run that made it 59-45 with 5:16 to play, but USMMA scored the next four points to push the margin back to 18.
The Mariners are off until Sunday, Jan.5, 2025, when they host Hunter in non-conference action beginning at noon.
