Jackson Nearly Records A Triple-Double In WBB’s 71-48 Victory At St. Joe’s-L.I.

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (Jan. 26, 2022) – USMMA freshman Grace Jackson (Parma, Idaho) put on quite the performance on Wednesday night out in Suffolk County, leading the Mariners to a big 71-48 Skyline victory over St. Joseph's-Long Island by filling in every category in the box score. The win improved the Mariners' record to 14-3 (10-3 Skyline), while the Golden Eagles fall to 10-5 (7-5 Skyline) with the loss.
 
Jackson nearly had a triple-double with game-highs in points (22), rebounds (17), blocks (eight) and assists (four), while also adding a team-best two steals. She was one of two Mariners to record double-doubles, as senior Madison Reddick (Baker, Mont.) registered 14 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Classmate Julia Dahlke (San Diego, Calif.) drained 13 points, and junior Madison Demos (Downers Grove, Ill.) had a near-double-double with nine points and 15 boards.
 
Merchant Marine led for a majority of the game, with SJC only holding an advantage for 19 seconds early in the second quarter. The game was close in the first 15 minutes, but the Mariners started to pull away late in the second, as their lead hit 11 points at 1:17 on a layup by Jackson and, despite it coming close to in the fourth, the advantage never fell below double-digits the remainder of the night.
 
USMMA shot 39.7% from the field and held the Golden Eagles to just 23.9% shooting. The Mariners also had an advantage over St. Joseph's in rebounds (59-39) and points in the paint (34-16).
 
For the Golden Eagles, junior Alyssa Adomaites led the way with 21 points and four steals while sophomore Lanyah Ford added 11 points and a team-best nine rebounds.
