FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (April 25, 2021) – On Sunday, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's track & field team won the 2021 Skyline Conference Championship Meet. It was the Mariners' first Skyline title after finishing in second place back-to-back years in 2018 and 2019. Junior
John Lynch (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) was named the Skyline Track Athlete of the Year and first-year head coach
Kayla Koelbel was selected by her peers as the Skyline Coach of the Year.

Men's Team Scoring: Merchant Marine - 180, Manhattanville - 170, Farmingdale State - 142, Mount Saint Mary - 67
Merchant Marine earned eight wins in men's events. Lynch won both the 100m (11.56) and 200m (24.17), while senior
Christian Acevedo-Perez (Orlando, Fla.) picked up a victory in the 400m (52.47).

Ivan Goretoy (West Warwick, R.I.) won three events this afternoon. He captured the hammer throw (45.78m / 150' 2"), shot put (13.06m / 42' 10.25") and the discus with a toss of 38.82m (127' 4"). Sophomore
Will Bucher (Carlisle, Penn.) also took the steeplechase in 10:44.59.
Rounding out the men's victories was the relay team of Acevedo-Perez, freshman
Lance Clemons (Westlake, Ohio), Bucher and senior
Patrick Porch (Halstead, Kan.) who won the 4x400m in 3:35.47.
