KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Oct. 3, 2020) – The USMMA men's soccer team lost on the road at Division I Army West Point in the second and final game of the two academies' home-and-home exhibition series on Saturday night by the final score of 4-0.
The Mariners struggled to get a chance offensively on the night, as the Black Knights held a 25-0 advantage in shots, including a 15-0 edge in shots on goal. The hosts' first tally of the night came in the 36th minute on a penalty kick, and Army doubled their lead in the 44th minute.
West Point added two more goals in the second half, both scored in the 56th minute just 27 seconds apart.
Sophomore Chase Miller (Boise, Idaho) got the start in net and made six saves in one half of action. Freshmen Ashton Carey (Pasadena, Md.) and Carson Bushnell (Yuba City, Calif.) split the second half, with Carey making three saves and Bushnell turning aside two Army shots.
The Mariners' next game is the end of this month on Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31, against arch-rival Coast Guard up in New London, Conn. More info on that game, including a full preview, will be available on www.USMMASports.com closer to game day.
