JERSEY CITY, N.J. (April 21, 2026) – The USMMA baseball team dropped a 12-6 decision to non-conference opponent NJCU on Tuesday afternoon at Thomas M. Gerrity Complex. The Mariners fall to 17-10 on the season, while the Gothic Knights improve to 10-22-1 overall.

How It Happened
NJCU jumped out to a commanding lead in the opening inning, capitalizing on five hits, a walk, and multiple errors to plate six runs and take a 6-0 advantage. The hosts added another run in the second inning on a throwing error to stretch the lead to 7-0.
The Blue and Gray got on the board in the third inning. Junior Christian Gamez (Kent Island, Md.) drove in a run on a groundout, and sophomore Luke Kruer (Sellersburg, Ind.) came around to score on a balk to cut the deficit to 7-2.
The Gothic Knights answered right back with a run in the bottom of the third on an RBI single and added another in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 9-2. The hosts continued to build their advantage in the fifth inning, scoring twice on an RBI triple and an RBI single to make it 11-2.
The Mariners responded in the sixth inning with a four-run rally. Freshman Jason Brown (Marlton, N.J.) led off with a solo home run, before Kruer picked up an RBI after being hit by a pitch. Gamez followed with a two-run single up the middle to bring USMMAÂ within 11-6.
NJCU added an insurance run in the seventh inning on an RBI double to cap the scoring and go on to win 12-6.
