FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (March 28, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's lacrosse team earned an 11-6 victory over Skyline Conference rival Farmingdale State on Saturday afternoon in a rematch of the 2025 conference title game. The win improves the Mariners to 3-3 (2-0 Skyline), while the Rams fall to 2-7 (1-1 Skyline).

Reese Ripley (Denver, Colo.) and freshman
Sarah Litz (Westminster, Md.) each scored four goals to lead the Mariners, while juniors
Leslie Wysong (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) and
Grace Picozzi (Collegeville, Pa.) along with sophomore
Lana Hayes (Toms River, N.J.) all added a goal and an assist apiece. Freshman
Isabelle Perry (Atlanta, Ga.) added two assists on the day.

Ripley also led all players in the game with five draw controls and caused two turnovers, while Wysong recorded a game-high three CTs and tied Picozzi for the game-best with four ground balls. Sophomore
Meghan Shippos (Bow, N.H.) scooped up three ground balls to lead the Mariner defenders. In goal, senior
Karianna Eagle (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) made seven saves to earn the victory.

USMMA jumped out to a strong start, scoring the first four goals of the game, including three straight from Ripley, to take a 4-0 lead midway through the opening quarter. Farmingdale State answered with a goal late in the first, but the Mariners continued to control play in the second quarter. Goals from Litz, Hayes and Picozzi helped extend the lead to 7-2 at halftime.

The Rams opened the second half with a man-up goal to cut into the deficit, but the Mariners responded quickly with goals from Ripley and Litz to push the lead to 9-3. Farmingdale State added a late third-quarter tally, but USMMA maintained control throughout the fourth quarter. Litz scored twice in the final period to help seal the 11-6 victory.

Farmingdale State was led by Molly Espey, who scored two goals and added four draw controls and two caused turnovers. Carly Livingston contributed a goal and an assist. In goal, Giavanna Stamatelo made 12 saves for the Rams and was the team leader with three ground balls.

The Mariners return to action on Monday, March 30, when they travel to Mahwah, N.J., to take on Ramapo in the make-up of the previously postponed game from earlier this season. Opening draw is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Roadrunners' Athletic Center Turf.
