BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Sept. 15, 2026) – The USMMA women's volleyball team held Brooklyn College to a .033 hitting percentage while racking up 12 service aces and eight total blocks in a 3-0 non-conference victory on Tuesday night at the West Quad Center. The Mariners won by scores of 25-21, 25-23 and 25-16 to improve to 5-1, while the Bulldogs fell to 1-3.

Freshman Anna Kelly (Orange, Texas) led the Mariners with a match-high 10 kills while hitting .273 and adding eight digs. Senior Erin Stillinger (Keller, Texas) finished with seven kills on a .353 hitting percentage and three service aces, while junior Jenny Dyke (Grand Rapids, Mich.) put down four kills without an error on seven swings to hit .571.
 
Freshman Miranda Zeng (Cupertino, Calif.) dished out a match-high 26 assists to go along with a team-best nine digs and three aces, while classmate Jill Sowers (Greensburg, Pa.) led all players with four service aces. Fellow plebe Sophie Phillips (Huffman, Texas) contributed four kills and had a hand in four blocks with two solo stops and two block assists.
 
Brooklyn jumped out to a 9-4 advantage in the opening set before USMMA responded with six consecutive points. Kelly served an ace during the run, while Stillinger delivered two kills as the Mariners moved ahead, 10-9. The teams remained close the rest of the way and were tied at 21-21 before USMMA scored the final four points. Kelly and Stillinger each put down a kill before Sowers closed the 25-21 win with a service ace.
 
The Bulldogs again held the early advantage in the second and led 13-10 before the Mariners began to turn things around. USMMA later scored six straight points to turn a 14-12 deficit into an 18-14 lead, with Stillinger recording two kills and two aces during the surge. Brooklyn eventually fought back to take a 23-22 advantage, but the Mariners answered with the final three points to escape with the 25-23 victory and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
 
USMMA took control much earlier in the third. After Brooklyn grabbed a 3-1 lead, the Mariners scored four straight and eventually stretched the advantage to 11-6. USMMA then used a six-point run to push the margin to 17-7, with Zeng serving consecutive aces during the stretch. The Mariners never allowed Brooklyn closer than eight the rest of the way before Dyke finished off the sweep with a kill for the 25-16 victory. The Mariners finished with advantages of 32-22 in kills, 12-10 in service aces, 43-36 in digs and 8-5 in total blocks. USMMA was at its best offensively in the opening set, hitting .286 with 13 kills and just three errors, while the defense limited Brooklyn to a negative-.111 hitting percentage in the third.
 
For Brooklyn, Saul Okeke-Ziburkus led the Bulldogs with eight kills and three service aces, while Olive Carroll added five kills and hit .286. Mila Servania collected a match-high 15 digs, Rose Kory handed out a team-high 10 assists and Meadow Andrews registered four solo blocks and one block assist.
 
Up next, the Mariners will travel to Western Connecticut State University for a tri-match this Saturday, Sept. 19. USMMA will take on Hartford at 1 p.m., before facing the host Wolves at 3 p.m.
