DANBURY, Conn. (Sept. 19, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to four matches with a pair of victories at Western Connecticut State University's tri-match on Saturday. The Mariners opened the day with a 3-1 victory over the host Wolves by scores of 25-20, 25-21, 22-25 and 25-17 before sweeping Hartford, 25-20, 25-22 and 25-17. With the two victories, USMMA improved to 7-1 on the season.

Freshman Miranda Zeng (Cupertino, Calif.) quarterbacked the offense against WestConn with her second 50-assist match of the season, as six different Mariners finished with at least six kills. Classmate Sophie Phillips (Huffman, Texas) led the balanced attack with 12 kills while hitting .400 and putting down three blocks.
 
Fellow plebe Anna Kelly (Orange, Texas) added 10 kills, junior Sydney Douglas (Herndon, Va.) recorded nine and freshman Candy Saz-Price (Cabot, Ark.) and senior Erin Stillinger (Keller, Texas) each put down eight. Junior Jenny Dyke (Grand Rapids, Mich.) rounded out the group with six kills while hitting .333. Saz-Price also led the Mariners with four service aces, while senior Alexa Tipps (Palmdale, Calif.) paced the defense with 10 digs. Stillinger hit a team-best .500 as USMMA finished with 60 kills and a .252 hitting percentage.
 
Zeng followed with a double-double against Hartford, finishing with 16 assists and a match-high 12 digs while also serving up five aces. Kelly led the offense with a match-high 10 kills, while sophomore Carly Soboloski (Peoria, Ariz.) added six kills and three solo blocks. Dyke was a perfect 3-for-3 on attack, Phillips added three kills without an error and junior Maddie Mayer (Centennial, Colo.) finished with three kills on eight swings while also contributing two service aces. The Mariners totaled 14 aces and seven total blocks in the straight-set victory.
 
Kings Point return home on Tuesday night, Sept. 22, when they welcome non-conference opponent Pratt Institute to the Liebertz Gymnasium. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
