(Dec. 2, 2022) – The USMMA men's basketball team dropped its non-conference road game versus arch-rival Coast Guard on Saturday afternoon, 84-62, up at the Bears' Roland Hall Gymnasium. USMMA's loss dropped them to 2-3, while Coast Guard snapped its two-game losing streak to improve to 2-5.

A trio attack of Trevor Parks, Mitch Shettles and Jarrod Jackson combined for 39 points for the Bears en route to their victory. USCGA was clicking on all cylinders on the afternoon thanks to shooting just under 50% from the field and 52% from downtown.
For the Mariners, there were positives to be taken from the defeat. Sophomore
Isaac Vencel (Bloomington, Ind.) saw his first action since Nov. 12 at NYU and racked up 13 points on 4-of-10 shooting including 2-for-4 from beyond the arc. With Vencel back in the lineup, Coach
Rob Pryor should have an easier time distributing minutes amongst a high-powered offensive unit.
Vencel tag-teamed with the game's leading scorer, sophomore
Drew Zalescik (Lambertville, N.J.). Zalescik was on fire as he posted a 7-for-12 mark from the field. The sophomore's strong start to the season continued, as he is now 23-for-38 from the field over the season's first five games.
Merchant Marine will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday night, Dec. 7, when they host the Purchase Panthers for a Skyline Conference showdown inside the Liebertz Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Live links for the game will be available with links on
