Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Mariners Suffer Road Loss At Farmingdale State Wednesday Night

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (Feb. 18, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's basketball team lost on the road at Farmingdale State, 92-78, on Wednesday night at the Rams' Nold Hall Gymnasium. The defeat dropped the Mariners' record to 7-17 (4-11 Skyline), while FSC improved to 21-3 (14-1 Skyline) with the victory.

Game Link Sophomore Tim Barton (Waldorf, Md.) led all players on the night with 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting. Three other Mariners scored in double-digits, as sophomore Aaron Zalescik (Lambertville, N.J.) had 16 points, freshman Noah Brown (Hedgesville, W.Va.) added 12 and classmate Jack Flannery (McKinney, Texas) scored 10. Sophomore Mason Lavergne (Baton Rouge, La.) contributed nine points and dished out a team-high six assists.

Farmingdale State controlled the tempo from the opening tip, using an early scoring surge and consistent defensive pressure to build a double-digit lead midway through the first half. USMMA struggled to generate sustained offense, as the Rams converted efficiently both in transition and from the perimeter, stretching the margin to a comfortable advantage by halftime.

In the second half, FSC continued to dictate play, stringing together runs that pushed the lead past 20 points and never allowing the Mariners to mount a significant rally. While Merchant Marine showed brief flashes with inside finishes and hustle plays, the Rams answered quickly each time, maintaining separation throughout the final stretch to secure the home victory in decisive fashion.

Farmingdale had four players with double-digit scoring, as Sean Conroy recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 assists, Kentrell Evans also had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, Liam Buckley added 17 points and Michael Notias chipped in with 16 points. The Rams shot 55.4% from the field and held a 38-27 advantage in rebounds.

The Mariners close out the season on Saturday, Feb. 21, when they host St. Joseph's-Brooklyn beginning at 1 p.m. at the Liebertz Gymnasium.
