Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Repeat As Skyline Conference Champs!

MILTON, N.Y. (Oct. 31, 2019) – For the second-straight year, the USMMA cross country teams are Skyline Conference Champions! The Mariners won the conference championship races this afternoon, hosted by Mount St. Mary at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome, as the women compiled a microscopic team score of 24 points, and the men tallied 29 points to lead the field.

For his superb efforts throughout the season, Interim Head Coach Captain Charles Billi was selected as both the Skyline Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

On the women's side, freshman Sayra Raya (Wasco, Calif.) won the 6K race, and in doing so earned both the Skyline Runner and Rookie of the Year Awards. Senior Kaleigh D'Arcy (White Plains, N.Y.) was right behind in second place. Two other Mariners finished in the top seven to earn spots on the First Team All-Skyline along with Raya and D'Arcy, as sophomore Anna Grafton (Belmont, N.H.) placed fifth and senior Anna Lewis (Lakehead, Calif.) came in sixth.

The Mariners also had two runners earn Second Team All-Skyline honors - senior Carissa Buonerba (Atlanta, Ga.), who came in 10th and sophomore Brooke Jorstad (La Crosse, Wis.), who placed 12th.

For the men, three runners produced First Team All-Skyline performances, as sophomore Aodhan Meyer (South Kingston, R.I.) placed second, classmate Brennan Shute (Annapolis, Md.) placed third and senior Michael Dobkowski (Merrick, N.Y.) came in fifth. An additional three Mariners garnered Second Team accolades – freshman Will Bucher (Carlisle, Pa.) in ninth place, sophomore Tyler Pittman (Albuquerque, N.M.) was 10th and classmate Lucas Jordan (Littleton, Colo.) placed 13th.

Complete official results for the race are not available at this time. When they are available, they will be posted as links on the teams' schedule pages on USMMASports.com
