Women's Cross Country Places 13th At Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle, Drops Head-To-Head Matchup To Coast Guard

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Oct. 19, 2019) – The USMMA women's cross country team competed in Rowan University's Inter-Regional Border Battle in New Jersey on Saturday and the Mariners placed 13th out of the 28 teams that scored at the event. However, Merchant Marine lost its head-to-head rivalry matchup against Coast Guard.

Senior Kaleigh D'Arcy (White Plains, N.Y.) led the Mariners with a 39th-place finish in the 6K race with a time of 22:44.5, while freshman Sayra Raya (Wasco, Calif.) was the second to place USMMA in 56th in 23:02.3. Sophomore Robin King (Raymond, Ohio) came in 63rd in 23:11.8.

Rounding out the top-five for the Mariners were sophomores Brooke Jorstad (La Crosse, Wis.) in 88th (23:47.7) and Anna Grafton (Belmont, N.H.) in 121st (24:20.4).

The Mariners' next meet is the Skyline Conference Championship Meet, hosted by Mount St. Mary College on Halloween, Thursday, Oct. 31, up at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, N.Y. The women's 6K race is scheduled for 1 p.m. More information for the Skyline Championships will be posted on the USMMA Women's Cross Country Schedule Page closer to the event.
