KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Nov. 6, 2019) – On Tuesday, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced the women's volleyball monthly awards for October and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy freshman outside hitter Paige Smith (Virginia Beach, Va.) was named the DIII Metro Offensive Player of the Month.
Smith was named the Skyline Player of the Week on October 7 and earned Rookie of the Week accolades on October 21. She continues to lead the Skyline Conference and ranks in the top-10 in the nation in points per set and kills per set. She had a total of five double-doubles on the month and she set a new Academy record for kills per set in a single-match with 8.33 in a career-best 25-kill performance in the Mariners' road sweep over Farmingdale State. The freshman was already honored by the ECAC earlier this season, as she was the DIII Metro Rookie of the Month for September.
