EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (Feb. 3, 2018) – For the second-straight week and third time this season sophomore Alexa Vandermeer (Grove Heights, Minn.) added her name to another Academy Record, as this week she tied USMMA's best mark in the 55 meter dash on Saturday at East Stroudsburg's DeSchriver Invitational.
Vandermeer came in 32nd place in the event with a time of 8.00, which matches the time of former Mariner great and Athletics Hall of Fame member Anna Maly '93, who set it back in 1990.
The sophomore also had the Mariners' top finish on the day, coming in 10th place in the 600 meter run in 1:47.96. In the same race, junior Kelsey Ramirez (Stevensville, Mich.) placed 11th with a time of 1:48.72 and senior Kaylee Kilbert (Canfield, Ohio) crossed in 13th in 1:54.06.
In the jumping events, senior Alex Miller (Stevensville, Mich.) came in 17th in the triple jump with a leap of 8.71 meters (28' 7.0") and in the throwing events, sophomore Ally McFadyen (Saint James, N.Y.) had the Merchant Marine's top finish, coming in 17th place in the weight throw with a toss of 12.33 meters (40' 5.50").
