KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Dec. 7, 2015) – Freshman Tyler Wickesberg (Albuquerque, N.M.) and sophomore Blythe Fentress (Shady Shores, Texas) picked up the women's swimming & diving team's only first-place finishes at this past weekend's TCNJ Invitational. The Mariners, competing in just their second event of the season, finished in fifth place in the event amongst well-rested and shaved opponents.
"I am very pleased with our performances this weekend," said USMMA head coach Sean Tedesco. As our second meet, we performed well and I look forward to the dual meet season."
Wickesberg won the 100-yard backstroke event with a time of 1:00.02, and also came in second in the 200-yard back in 2:10.81 and placed third in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:01.11. In the 200-yard individual medley, she came in eighth place with a time of 2:17.36.
Fentress won the three-meter diving (six dives) event with a score of 224.05. She also earned an NCAA qualifying mark in the one-meter dive (11 dives) with a 401.85. She placed third in that event as well as the one-meter dive (six dives) with a score of 219.90.
Other top-ten finishes on the swimming side this weekend included junior Jolyn Green (Riverside, Calif.) placing fourth and senior Elizabeth Rose (Hamilton, Ohio) coming in 10th in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events. Sophomore Liz Grove (Winchester, Va.) coming in seventh in the 400-yard IM and junior Catherine Don (Quincy, Ill.) placing seventh in the 1,650-yard freestyle.

The Mariners return to the pool this coming Friday, Dec. 11, when they play host to Division II Queens College. First race is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the O'Hara Hall Pool.
