LEXINGTON, Va. (Feb. 10, 2018) – On Saturday, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy wrestling team competed at the Centennial Conference Championship Meet, hosted by Washington and Lee University in Virginia. The Mariners had an impressive team finish, as they came in second place out of the eight teams competing with 61.5 points. Nationally-ranked Stevens claimed its fourth-straight Centennial Championship with 100.0 points and the host Generals placed third with 56.5 points. 

Five USMMA wrestlers placed in the top three of their brackets, including one individual conference champion – sophomore Joshua Glantzman (Allenwood, N.J.) at 174, three others that placed second and one that placed third. 

Glantzman went a perfect 3-0 on the day with decision victories over Ronald Mattox of McDaniel and Miles Gilliam of Hopkins in the first two rounds before claiming a win in the finals against Washington & Lee's Brandon LeFore in the first sudden-victory period. 

Placing second as Centennial runners-up for the Mariners were freshman Kieran Duggan (Woodbury, Conn.) at 157, junior Blake Bunce (Trophy Club, Texas) at 197 and classmate Victor Raigoza (Orland, Calif.) at 285. The trio all had 2-1 records, with Duggan and Raigoza both picking up pins in their opening round matchups. 

Sophomore Kurtis Hahn (Winfield, Mo.) came in third place at 184 with a 2-2 record, as he earned one pin on the day as well. Also picking up wins on the day were junior Christian Willoughby (Blountsville, Ala.), who came in fourth at 165 with a 2-2 record, junior Tyler Craig (Snowhegan, Maine) at 133 with a 1-2 record with one pin and freshman Charles Franchina (San Diego, Calif.) at 149, also with a 1-2 record with one pin.
