KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Dec. 14, 2019) – Four players scored in double-figures, including two with double-doubles, to lead the USMMA women's basketball team over visiting Keystone College, 65-51, on Saturday afternoon at the Liebertz Gymnasium. The Mariners made the most of both the Keystone turnovers, scoring 19 points on them, and their own second chance points, as they also had 19 points after grabbing offensive rebounds.
The hosts stormed out to a seven-point lead early, 8-1, but the Giants answered with seven-straight to tie it up at 4:08 of the first. Merchant Marine went up by as many as five points twice in the opening quarter and was up by three, 17-14, at the end of the first 10 minutes.

Once again, Keystone went on a 7-0 run to tie the score up at 23-23 at 3:35. Play was back-and-forth from that point and USMMA went into the locker room with a 30-27 advantage at the half.
The Mariners came out strong to start the third, finally grabbing a double-digit lead, 41-31 at 4:39, after starting the half on an 11-4 run. The Giants were only able to come within eight points just shortly after, as Merchant Marine cruised to the victory after an impressive second half.
