Mariners Remain Perfect With 57-43 Home Victory Against Mount St. Vincent

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Dec. 8, 2018) – The USMMA women's basketball team rolled over Skyline opponent Mount St. Vincent, 57-43, Saturday afternoon at the Liebertz Gymnasium. With the win, the Mariners stay unbeaten at 6-0 (4-0 Skyline), while the Dolphins fall to 1-6 (1-4 Skyline) in defeat. 

Freshman Lauren Hunter (Tinley Park, Ill.) recorded her sixth-straight double-double, posting a team-high 24 points and 14 rebounds. Junior Shelby Peters (El Dorado, Hills, Calif.) brought down 13 boards on the afternoon to go along with eight points. Classmate Kaleigh D'Arcy (White Plains, N.Y.) dished out a team-high three assists and also scored eight points. Freshman Julia Dahlke (San Diego, Calif.) also contributed with eight points. 

The first half saw the Dolphins jump out to as high as an eight-point lead, 10-2, in first quarter, but the Mariners fought back to take the lead in the second and held a 30-20 advantage at halftime. 

USMMA went on a 10-0 run to start the third quarter, holding Mount St. Vincent scoreless until the 2:02 mark, to build a 43-24 advantage after three. The Mariners went up by as many as 22 points, 46-22, in the fourth, cruising to the victory. 

Sophomore Aria Rheams led the Dolphins with 17 points and six rebounds, while freshman Aaliyah Lyn chipped in with nine points. 

Up next, the Mariners will play host to non-conference opponent York College (N.Y.) on Tuesday night, Dec. 11. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Liebertz Gymnasium. Live stats and a live video feed of the game will be available with links on the USMMA Women's Basketball Schedule Page
