The Catholic advantage reached double-digits early in the second quarter and got as high as 12 points (20-8), but the Mariners fought back strong to come within just three points after Carmon nailed a pair of free throws at 3:54 to make the score 26-23 in favor of the visitors. Eight straight points for CUA eventually led to a 9-4 run to end the half, with the Cardinals ahead by eight, 35-27.
The Cardinals' lead hit 10 points with the first basket of the third quarter and stayed in double-figures for the remainder of the afternoon, reaching as high as 28 points (62-34) at 1:43 of the third.
