ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. (Dec. 12, 2015) – Playing its first game away from the Liebertz Gymnasium all season, the USMMA women's basketball team dropped a Landmark Conference contest at Elizabethtown College on Saturday by the final score of 56-36. In defeat, the Mariners fall to 4-3 (0-3 Landmark) on the year, while the Blue Jays improve to 5-2 (2-0 Landmark).
Sophomores Sarah Milafsky (Aurora, Colo.) and Samantha Drake (Centereach, N.Y.) both drained a team-high seven points each. Junior Kelsey Hofmann (Adel, Iowa) led all players in the game with a career-high 10 rebounds.
Sophomore Tichina Carmon (Greenville, N.C.) chipped in with six points, while classmates Myckenzie Toler (Prunedale, Calif.) and Jenna Wetherington (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) added four points apiece. Wetherington also brought down nine boards. Junior Rachel Wehlburg (Herndon, Va.) and Miller Torrance (Concord, N.H.) both scored three points each and junior Allie Drake (Centereach, N.Y.) rounded out the Mariners' scorers with two points.
Elizabethtown was led by freshman Abby Beyer and sophomore Marissa Gingrich, who both tallied a game-high 13 points apiece. Senior Rachel Forjan scored eight points to eclipse the 1,000 career point plateau and classmate Alyssa Aichele had a team-best eight rebounds.
The Mariners return to action on Sunday when they travel to face Landmark foe the University of Scranton. Tip is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Royals' John Long Center. Live stats, a live video feed and live audio of the contest are available by following those links.
