Men’s & Women’s Basketball Fall To Elizabethtown Saturday

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. (Dec. 13, 2014) – Both the USMMA men's and women's basketball squads lost on the road to new Landmark Conference member Elizabethtown on Saturday. The women played first and lost by the score of 65-39, while the men fell 83-61 to the Blue Jays in the second game of the doubleheader.
The women were led by sophomore Julie Mall (Littlestown, Pa.), who recorded 10 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Jenna Wetherington (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) led all players with 10 rebounds, while classmate Tichina Carmon (Greenville, N.C.) contributed six points and six boards off the bench.

On the men's side, two Mariners scored in double-figures – junior David Smith (Lakewood, Wash.) tallied 17 and classmate Scott Dennin (Gilbertsville, Pa.) recorded 10. Smith registered a double-double, as he also grabbed 11 rebounds. Off the bench, sophomore Hunter Jones (Goodyear, Ariz.) chipped in with six assists.

Both teams are back in action on Sunday, when they take on nationally-ranked University of Scranton squads. The women take on the Lady Royals at 2 p.m., while the men are slated for a 4 p.m. start.
