Cross Country Teams Come In First In Skyline Preseason Polls; 2019 Schedule Available Online

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Aug. 28, 2019) – This morning the Skyline Conference released the preseason coaches poll for men's and women's cross country and both Merchant Marine squads were picked by the league's head coaches as the favorites to repeat as conference champions. The men earned 117 points in the poll with eight first place votes, while the women grabbed 113 points and also garnered eight first place votes.

Interim Head Coach Capt. Charles Billi has also unveiled the 2019 schedule on www.USMMASports.com. The 2019 campaign currently features seven meets throughout the next three-plus months. 

The season beings this Friday, Aug. 30, with the St. Joseph's-L.I. Invitational. The Mariners will then compete in the NYIT Invite for the second-straight season on Saturday, Sept. 14. The annual MSMC Knight Invitational, hosted by Skyline opponent Mount St. Mary, is up next on Saturday, Oct. 5. The following weekend, Oct.12, the Mariners will travel up to Canton, N.Y., to run on the NCAA Regional course at St. Lawrence University in SLU's Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitational/Pre-Atlantic Regional.

The 2019 Skyline Conference Championship Meet is slated for Halloween, Thursday, Oct. 31, at Purchase College. That's followed by the ECAC Championship Meet up at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome on Saturday, Nov. 6, before the Mariners look to send runners through to Nationals at the NCAA Atlantic Region Meet on Saturday, Nov. 16 up at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.
