MILTON, N.Y. (Oct. 25, 2018) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's cross country team captured its second Skyline Championship in the past three years on Thursday at the conference championship meet hosted by Mount St. Mary College at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome up in Ulster County. The Mariners won the meet with an incredible total of 30 points, as their top-five all finished better than 10th place and their next two were inside 12th place.

SUNY Maritime came in second place with a team total of 65 points, while St. Joseph's-L.I. was third with 95 points.

With the combination of the Mariner women also winning the Skyline Championship on Thursday, it's the first time since 2005 that both the men's and women's squads have swept the titles.

Freshman Lucas Jordan (Littleton, Colo.) came in second place in the eight-kilometer race with a time of 27:49.10, while classmate Aodhan Meyer (South Kingston, R.I.) placed fourth in 28:35.66. The next three Mariners to cross all came in back-to-back-to-back as senior Connor Cole (Alpharetta, Ga.) came in seventh in 28:46.77, junior Michael Dobkowski (Merrick, N.Y.) was eighth with a time of 28:50.17 and freshman Nicholas Arima (Honolulu, Hawaii) placed ninth in 28:57.44.

Rounding out the Mariners' top-seven finishers were sophomore Patrick Porch (Halstead, Kan.) and senior John Robertson (Pfafftown, N.C.) in 11th (29:06.00) and 12th (29:17.66) place, respectively.

With their top-seven finishes overall, Jordan, Meyer and Cole were named to the All-Skyline Conference First Team, while Dobkowski, Arima, Porch and Robertson landed on the Second Team. Additionally, sixth-year head coach David Lawrence Jr. was selected as the Skyline Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year by his peers – making him doubly praised on the day, as he was also the Women's XC Coach of the Year.

The Mariners will return to action next Saturday, Nov. 3, when they travel right back up to the Hudson Valley Sportsdome for the ECAC Championship Meet. The men's 8K race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
