BRONX, N.Y. (Sept. 16, 2018) – The USMMA men's cross country team came in first place on Sunday at the Queensborough Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park. The Mariners totaled 42 points at the meet, with the first five finishers all placing in the top-15. In second was SUNY Maritime (112 points), followed by Monroe College (122), Purchase (148) and Hunter (156) rounding out the top-five.
Freshman Lucas Jordan (Littleton, Colo.) paced Merchant Marine, as he came in third place in the 8K race with a time of 29:19.2. Senior John Robertson (Pfafftown, N.C.) was not far behind him in fourth place in 29:32.9 and classmate Connor Cole (Alpharetta, Ga.) placed eighth after crossing in 29:49.3. Freshmen Aodhan Meyer (South Kingston, R.I.) and Tyler Pittman (Albuquerque, N.M.) were back-to-back in 14th (30:35.9) and 15th (30:36.7) places, respectively.
The final three runners for the Mariners were freshman Nicholas Arima (Honolulu, Hawaii) in 27th in 31:32.9, sophomore Patrick Porch (Halstead, Kan.) in 29th in 31:41.6 and junior Michael Dobkowski (Merrick, N.Y.) in 31st in 32:08.5.
