Men’s Cross Country Finishes Third At Landmark Championship Meet

TOWSON, Md. (Nov. 1, 2014) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point men's cross country team competed in the Landmark Conference Championship Meet, hosted by Goucher College, on Saturday and the Mariner men finished in third place at the event. It was the third straight year that USMMA placed third at the championship meet.

Sophomore Daniel Wolfer (Hebron, N.Y.) paced Kings Point with a 14th place finish in the eight-kilometer race with a time of 28:02.3. Freshman Daniel MacElrevey (Lewes, Del.) was the top rookie finisher in the race, as he crossed the line in 16th place in 28:11.5, while classmate Conor McWeeney (Lake Oswego, Ore.) was just two positions behind in 18th, finishing the course in 28:14.4.

Freshman Alexander Barton (Castle Rock, Colo.) and Brennan Megeff (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) rounded out the scoring for the Mariners with 22nd (28:24.8) and 25th (28:27.5) place finished.

Three other runners crossed the finish line for Merchant Mariner, as junior Michael Dittmer (Clifton Park, N.Y.) came in 30th in 28:56.4, Cameron Green (Lancaster, Calif.) was 35th with a time of 29:04.7 and Patrick McGuiness (Glenville, N.Y.) placed 51st in 29:48.9.
