Tennis Drops Skyline Match At Yeshiva Tuesday Night

EDGEWATER, N.J. (April 16, 2019) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy tennis team lost its Skyline Conference match to defending league champion Yeshiva University, 9-0, late Tuesday night at the Binghamton Racquet Club in New Jersey . The defeat drops the Mariners' record to 5-4 (3-3 Skyline), while the Maccabees improve to 12-7 (7-0 Skyline) with the victory. 

All three doubles matches ended with identical 8-3 scores in favor of the Macs. 

In singles, Yeshiva earned straight-set wins at all six flights, with the Mariners putting up hard fights at #2 by senior Daniel Zakrevski (Forest Hills, N.Y.), who lost 6-2, 7-6 (7-1), and at #6 by junior Blaine Mueller (Meridian, Miss.), who fell 6-1, 7-5.

Up next, the Mariners will travel to Mahwah, N.J., on Thursday for a non-conference match against Ramapo College beginning at 4 p.m.
