NCAAs Day 4 Recap: Mariners Place 15th At NCAA Meet After Monahan And 400 Free Relay Score In Evening Session

Day 4 Results 

GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 23, 2019) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy finished the 2019 NCAA Championship Meet in 15th place after scoring two more times in the evening session of the final day of the meet on Saturday. The Mariners compiled a total of 76 team points throughout the meet. 

Junior Nolan Monahan (Stafford, Va.) came in eighth place in the 200 breaststroke Championship Finals with a time of 2:00.83. That scored 11 team points for USMMA, and was Monahan's third All-American performance of the week. 

He wound up picking up a fourth as the anchor of the 400 Free Relay team along with sophomores Daniel Moore (Riverview, Fla.) and Jack Welch (Chesapeake, Va.) and junior Caelin Weaver (Olive Branch, Miss.) that came in 10th place in 3:01.14. They were the second-place team in the Consolation Finals heat and earned 14 team points. All team members of the 400FR are Honorable Mention All-Americans.
