NCAAs Day 4 Update: Monahan And 400 Free Relay Reach Finals Tonight

GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 23, 2019) – For the second day in a row, junior Nolan Monahan (Stafford, Va.) will swim for a National Championship! Additionally, the 400 Freestyle Relay team of sophomores Daniel Moore (Riverview, Fla.) and Jack Welch (Needham, Mass.), junior Caelin Weaver (Olive Branch, Miss.) and Monahan will compete in the Consolation Finals during the evening session on the final day of the 2019 NCAA National Championship Meet.

Monahan came in sixth place in the 200 Breaststroke Preliminaries this morning with a lifetime-best and Academy record time of 1:59.62. He is seeded sixth going into the Finals tonight and will be in Lane 7 of the Championship heat. 

The 400 Free Relay team placed ninth in the prelims with a time of 3:01.01 and will be the top-seed in Lane 4 of the Consolation Final heat this afternoon. 

The Mariners also had two other swims during the morning session – Moore competed in the 100 freestyle and placed 26th in 45.36 and freshman Patrick Tolloti (Dover, Ohio) came in 20th in the 200 breast with a time of 2:02.62.

Both Monahan and the 400FR team will look to add to the Mariners' team score and All-American count in the Finals Session tonight beginning at 6 p.m. The heat sheets for the session are available at this link
