BETHLEHEM, Pa. (April 26, 2015) – The USMMA baseball team dropped its series-finale at Moravian on Sunday, 9-4. The Mariners fall to 13-18 overall (8-13 Landmark), while the Greyhounds improve to 18-17 (13-8 Landmark).
Freshmen Michael Barnes (Alexandria, Va.) and Bryson Campbell (Cool, Calif.) both had multi-hit games for Merchant Marine, as Barnes knocked in two runs and Campbell had one RBI and a run scored. Freshman Jacob Sithong (Orlando, Fla.), senior Jake Wood (Richmond, Va.) and junior Jeff Suciu (Zanesville, Ohio) scored the Mariners' other runs in the game.
On the mound, senior Jeff Wright (Las Vegas, Nev.) suffered the loss, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing seven runs on eight hits while striking out three batters. Sophomore Nathan Slusarczyk (Woodbury, N.J.) came in for 2.1 innings of relief and allowed two runs on six hits and struck out two. Freshman Dylan Rabbitt (Easton, Md.) finished the last two innings and allowed just one hit, while striking out one Greyhound.
The Mariners will be back in action this Tuesday, April 28, for the 2015 season-finale at local non-conference foe Old Westbury. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Panthers' Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex on campus.
