Kurt Van Yost was a four-year letter winner as a member of the swimming and diving team.  A seven-time All-American in the freestyle events, Kurt also held five metropolitan collegiate season records and five academy records during his tenure as a midshipman. 

In 1973 he was the recipient of the ECAC Merit Medal which honors scholar athletes.  Van Yost captained the 1972-73 swimming and diving team and was selected as the recipient of the 1973 Adm. Stedman Trophy.
