Title: HOF Class of '01

Louis Shoneff entered the Athletic Hall of Fame after playing a primary role on the Academy’s first-ever varsity men’s basketball team in the 1944-45 season,  The team finished with a 9-1 record, suffering their only loss by one point to Long Island University.  Shoneff led the team in scoring with 129 points; a 12.9 points per game average.  He scored 19 against rival Pennsylvania Military Academy in a 50-44 win for the Blue and Gray, establishing one of the inaugural Academy Records.  In the game, the visiting team from PMC launched a second half scoring spree that closed Kings Point’s lead to five points.  Shoneff then notched five consecutive baskets to move the Mariners safely out in front en route to the win.
