|Title:||HOF Class of '97|
George Paterno still stands as the winningest head football coach in Kings Point history. Over his nine years as head coach from 1965-68 and 1971-75, the Mariners won 46 games and he was named the Academy's Coach of the Year twice. In his second stint as head coach, the football team had a winning percentage of .620. In 1968, Paterno led the team to an 8-1 overall record and a second place finish in the battle for the Lambert Cup. Paterno’s teams never lost to Coast Guard, won the most Boardwalk Bowls, and saw two of their players go on to the NFL. As Acting Athletic Director from 1983-86, Paterno led the Academy's sports teams to overwhelming success. For over 20 years, Paterno was a physical education instructor at the Academy, and dedicated over 25 total years to athletics at Kings Point. In the fall of 1996, Paterno was inducted into the Brown University Hall of Fame.
