Dr. Stephen “Bill” Omeltchenko is a name that has become synonymous with Kings Point track and field.  After serving as an assistant track coach to Jim Liebertz in 1957, Omeltchenko became the head track and field and cross country coach at the Academy in 1958.  He was responsible for establishing the indoor track and field program at Kings Point after realizing that in order to get the national recognition it deserved, Kings Point athletes would have to work year-round.  Besides having coached numerous All-Americans, TAC Champions, MAC Champions, and PAC Champions Omeltchenko’s main contribution to the track program has been the respect he has been able to garner for the KP track, cross country, and racewalking programs
