Bill Nixon was a four-year letterwinner for the Mariners men’s swimming & diving team, where he finished as one of the most decorated divers in the history of the program. Nixon was named the USMMA Outstanding Diver of the Year each of his four years, and was the 1989 recipient of the Admiral Giles C. Stedman Trophy. He won the NCAA Division III 3-meter Diving National Championship in 1988 and ’89 and was the National Runner-Up in 1987. Nixon was also the National Runner-Up on the 1-meter board in 1988 and ’89. He earned four NCAA All-America honors on the 3-meter board (1987-89). Nixon also placed third or better from 1986-89 in both diving events at the Metropolitan Conference Championships, including the 1-meter board championship in 1989 and the 3-meter board championship in 1987 and ’89. While at Kings Point, he set the Academy records on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards for both six-dive dual meets and 11-dive championship meets, and received first place honors in 73 dual meet competitions. Nixon also served as a team captain during the 1987-88 and 1988-89 season.
