Robert McNamee was one of the Blue and Gray’s biggest threats on the hardwood in the 56-year history of the men’s basketball program. He led Kings Point hoopsters in their first-ever 20 win season during the 1984-85 campaign and a berth in the ECAC Division-III New York/New Jersey Championship Game.
During his career with the team, McNamee earned four varsity letters, two MVP awards, and set a number of Academy scoring and rebounding records. At the time of his graduation, he set Academy standards for points in a season, points in a career, rebounds in a season, and rebounds in a career. To date, he remains the Blue and Gray’s All-Time Leading Scorer with 2,162 career points and holds records for field goals made in a career (885), field goals attempted in a season (524) and field goals attempted in a career (1,853).
During his senior year, McNamee served as team captain. He earned accolades as a Division-III All-Metro selection in 1984, Division-III player of the year in 1985, and was awarded the Adm. Stedman Trophy for being the Academy’s most outstanding senior athlete in 1985.
