John (Jack) McCrane was a two-year letterwinner as a member of the Kings Point football team. He quarterbacked the first varsity team at Kings Point in 1945 and threw the first touchdown pass in Academy history. He led the nation in touchdown passes and total offense the first five weeks of the season, before falling to an ankle injury. After graduation, McCrane received over 25 football scholarship offers and an offer to try out for the Chicago Bears.
