Kevin D’Arcy is a 1990 graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy, where he lettered in men’s basketball, lacrosse and tennis. He was a four year letter winner for the Mariners men’s basketball team, which he led in scoring in the 1988-89 (645) and 1989-90 (665) seasons. D’Arcy holds the career rebounding record (1,004) and amassed 1,868 career points in his four years on the team, which is good for third all time. He set the single season Academy marks for points (665), field goals (264), field goal percentage (621), free throws (142), and rebounds (36), and holds the singe game record for rebounds (25). D’Arcy ranked in the top five nationally in both scoring and rebounding in the 1988-89 and 1989-90 seasons, and was name an NCAA Division III First Team All-American. He was also named the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division II Player of the Year after the 1988-89 season. In 1988-89, D’Arcy led the Mariners to a school record 25-3 season, which ended with a berth in the NCAA Tournament, and in 1989-90 he led the team to the ECAC Division III Metro Region Championship Game.
