Kevin Weis '20 joins the United States Merchant Marine Academy football staff as an assistant offensive line coach for the 2026 season. A former offensive lineman for the Mariners, Weis returns to Kings Point six years after graduating from the Academy.
A native of Floral Park, N.Y., Weis graduated from Chaminade High School before attending USMMA. He was a four-year member of the Mariners' football program from 2016-19 and earned varsity letters during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. During his career, Merchant Marine compiled a 25-12 record, defeated Coast Guard three times, and made the program's first appearance on ESPN3. Weis was also a member of the Mariners' 2018 ECAC Clayton Chapman Bowl championship team and 2019 New England Bowl championship team.
Weis graduated from USMMA in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Maritime Logistics & Security and earned his U.S. Coast Guard Third Mate license for self-propelled vessels of unlimited tonnage upon oceans.
Following graduation, Weis worked in international freight forwarding with Horizon Air Freight, supporting maritime logistics for a combined fleet of more than 100 vessels. He later joined Compass Logistics & Marine, where he eventually became Head of Operations while continuing his service in the U.S. Navy Reserve through the Strategic Sealift Officer Program.
In July 2026, Weis transitioned to active duty as a Strategic Sealift Officer and returned to the Academy, where he serves as the Second Company Officer.
