Women’s Swimming & Diving Gets Fifth Victory Of The Season

The United States Merchant Marine Academy women’s swimming and diving team got its fifth victory of the season with a 106-89 defeat of the College of St. Elizabeth. USMMA finished the night with seven first place finishes.
Casey Moore and Lauren Seebode both had strong nights for the Mariners with two first place finishes. Moore took first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:13.68) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:09.58). Seebode finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.06 and first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:47.94. Erik Lawson also had a first place finish on the night with a time of 1:02.05 in the 100-yard freestyle. Casey Roth was the only other Mariners to claim a first place finish. She won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:19.44. USMMA as a team won the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 2:19.32.
In the diving events, Elizabeth Peterson won the 1-meter board with 106.28 points while Kathryn Schmidt won the 3-meter board with 125.63 points.
The Mariners return to action on Saturday, January 16th when they travel to Drew University to take on Drew and Goucher College. The meet is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
