Robbins’ Walk-off Homer Splits Softball Doubleheader vs. CSI

– Junior shortstop Kaitlyn Robbins
helped the U.S. Merchant Marine
Academy softball squad to a doubleheader split with the College of Staten
Island as she belted a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh
inning of Game Two to give the Mariners a 9-7 victory on Saturday afternoon at
Kings Point Park in Kings Point, N.Y. The Dolphins took the first game by a
final score of 5-3. Following the twinbill action, USMMA’s record now stands at
4-5 on the season, while
Staten Island’s

– On Tuesday, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy softball team earned its second
and third victories of the season in a doubleheader sweep of
Lehman
College
at South Field in
Bronx,
N.Y. The final score of the first game was
11-0 in favor of the Mariners, while the second contest’s decision read 18-6.
With the two triumphs, the Mariners improved to 3-4 on the year. Following the

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy softball team fell to Rutgers-Camden, 6-2 in the first round of the ECAC Tournament on Wednesday, May 6th. Freshman Nicole Kogel led the way for the Mariners going 1-for-2 with two walks and knocking in the only Mariner runs. Kim Saxton helped out going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run. Junior Jesselyn LaValley of the United States Merchant Marine Academy softball team was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year. The announcement was made by the conference office this afternoon. LaValley was also named to the Landmark First Team as a first baseman.jump to page:
