Jess LaValley Garners All-Atlantic Region Third Team Honors
May 6, 2008 - After being named to the All-Landmark Conference Second Team as a pitcher and a first baseman, sophomore Jess LaValley of the United States Merchant Marine Academy softball team was selected as a member of the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-Atlantic Region Third Team as an at-large selection for the second straight season. She is one of only four Landmark Conference players to garner this honor.

Two Softball Players Earn All-Landmark Conference Accolades
May 1, 2008 - Sophomore Jess LaValley and freshman Kaitlyn Robbins of the United States Merchant Marine Academy softball team were honored by the Landmark Conference when the league released its postseason awards on Thursday afternoon. LaValley was named to the All-Landmark Second Team as a starting pitcher and first baseman, while Robbins garnered All-Landmark Conference Second Team honors as a shortstop. This marks the second straight season that LaValley earned all-conference accolades, and the first time that Robbins is receiving postseason recognition.

Softball Ends 2008 Season On A High Note
Apr 27, 2008 - The United States Merchant Marine Academy softball team ended its season on a winning note after sweeping a doubleheader against Baruch College on Sunday afternoon. The Mariners won both games by scores of 6-0 and 4-3. Jesselyn LaValley pitched her third shutout of the season in game one, and Marjorie Marino was the winning pitcher in the final outing of her career in the second game. Eight of the ten Mariner runs were scored with two outs.

Softball Splits A Doubleheader With Susquehanna
Apr 26, 2008 - The United States Merchant Marine Academy softball team split a doubleheader with the Susquehanna University Crsuaders on Saturday afternoon at Kings Point Park. The Mariners won game one, 5-1, and lost the second game by a score of 5-2. This marked the last day of Landmark Conference action around the league.
Softball Concludes 2008 Season/Live Audio Available
Apr 25, 2008 - The United States Merchant Marine Academy softball team will conclude its 2008 season this weekend when it hosts Susquehanna and Baruch. Both days will feature a live audio broadcast for Mariner fans who can't make it to Kings Point Park. On Sunday, seniors Marjorie Marino, Kaitlin Mulgrew and Brittany Thornhill will be recognized for their contributions to the program. The first pitch of each doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m.

Apr 20, 2008 - Jess LaValley and Kaitlyn Robbins each hit a home run to help the United States Merchant Marine Academy softball team earn a split against the United States Coast Guard Academy on Sunday afternoon in New London, Conn. The Mariners won the first game by a score of 10-9 and dropped game two, 9-6. This marked the first and only time that a women’s sport at USMMA defeated Coast Guard during the 2007-08 academic year.
