Six Mariners Put In Strong Performances At Nationals
Mar 7, 2009 - The #12 ranked U.S. Merchant Marine Academy wrestling team had six wrestlers compete at the NCAA National Tournament in Iowa this weekend. With a strong all-around field, all six Mariners lost in the opening round but two individuals pulled through to get a victory in their next matches. Philip Greene and Eric Vincent both were able to get one victory in the tournament. Head Coach Greg Ilaria was also named Rookie Coach of the Year.

#12 Mariners Repeat As Centennial Conference Champions
Feb 21, 2009 - The #12 ranked U.S. Merchant Marine Academy wrestling team defended its Centennial Conference Championship with a victory. The Mariners finished with 116 points which was 50 points better than second place Ursinus College. Six Mariners won their weight class and will now head to the NCAA National Championships.

Feb 14, 2009 - The #12 ranked U.S. Merchant Marine Academy wrestling team defeated two Centennial Conference opponents on Saturday, February 14th to improve to 7-0 in the Conference. The Mariners beat Johns Hopkins 37-10 and Gettysburg 33-12.

Feb 12, 2009 - The United States Merchant Marine Academy wrestling team moved remains at the #12 spot in the national poll for the second time in a row as released by Brute-Adidas National Wrestling Coaches Association. USMMA also has three individual wrestlers ranked in their weight classes.
