Soccer Earns Tie Against Nationally-Ranked Montclair State, 1-1
Sep 1, 2010 - KINGS POINT, N.Y. – On Wednesday evening, the United States Merchant Marine Academy men’s soccer team kicked off its 2010 campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 tie against nationally-ranked Montclair State University at Captain Tomb Field in Kings Point, N.Y. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America ranked the Red Hawks 19th in the nation in a preseason poll. Following the tie, both USMMA and Montclair move to 0-0-1 on the year.

Soccer Picked to Finish Second in Landmark Preseason Poll
Aug 26, 2010 - MADISON, N.J. – The Landmark Conference office released its men’s soccer preseason poll on Tuesday morning, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy squad was voted to finish second in the league after accumulating 78 points. Voting was done by the Landmark’s head soccer coaches and sports information directors.

Soccer Looks to Capitalize on Last Season's Success
Aug 25, 2010 - KINGS POINT, N.Y. – Coming off an NCAA appearance and a tie atop the Landmark Conference standings at regular season’s-end, Head Coach Michael Smolens and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy soccer team have repeating 2009’s success on their minds for the 2010 campaign. There was individual success as well for the 2009 Mariners as four players were selected to Landmark All-Conference teams, while two of those four were tabbed as NSCAA All-Americans.

Clint Foster and Kyle Kempinski Named NSCAA All-Americans
Dec 14, 2009 - Senior Clint Foster (Mt. Pleasant, TX) and Senior Kyle Kempinski (Milford, NJ) of the United States Merchant Marine Academy men’s soccer team were named NSCAA All-Americans. This is the first time that the Mariners have had two All-Americans in the same season since 2002 when the team went to the NCAA Sweet 16. Only three other schools (Stevens Tech, Trinity, Wesleyan) had multiple All-Americans on the season. Foster and Kempinski led the way for the Mariners as they finished the 2009 campaign with a 15-4 overall record and qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
Mariners Fall In First Round Of NCAA Tournament`
Nov 14, 2009 - Swarthmore, PA — The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy soccer team lost a hard fought first round NCAA Division III Tournament game, 2-1 to Swarthmore College. The Mariners had many chances to tie the game or take the lead but were unable to capitalize on their chances. Senior Rusty Denson netted the Mariners only goal of the game in the losing effort.
Clint Foster Named Landmark Offensive Player of the Year
Nov 11, 2009 - Senior Clint Foster of the United States Merchant Marine Academy men’s soccer team was named Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Year. The announcement was made by the conference office on Wednesday morning. This is the first time Foster has received this honor by the conference.
