• Buonerba Lands On Skyline Women’s Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll

    USMMA sophomore Carissa Buonerba’s (Atlanta, Ga.) team-best sixth-place finish this past Sunday has led the Skyline Conference to select her to this week’s women’s cross country weekly honor roll, the league announced earlier this week.
  • MacElrevey & Lewis Land On Skyline Cross Country Weekly Honor Rolls

    The Skyline Conference announced earlier this week that USMMA senior Austin MacElrevey (Lewes, Del.) of the men’s cross country team and sophomore Anna Lewis (Lakehead, Calif.) of women’s cross country have been named to their respective sports’ weekly honor rolls. The honors come after their performances at the Goucher Classic this past Saturday down in Towson, Md. 
  • Women’s Cross Country Earns Second-Place Finish At Goucher Classic

    The USMMA women’s cross country team competed at former Landmark Conference opponent Goucher College’s Cross Country Classic on Saturday down in Maryland. The Mariners finished in second place out of seven teams with a score of 55 points, behind winner St. Mary’s (Md.), who had 30 points and ahead of third-place Hartford Community College (72 points) and fourth-place Goucher (84 points).

    On Monday, the Skyline Conference announced the weekly award winners for women’s cross country and USMMA sophomore Anna Lewis (Lakehead, Calif.) was selected to the weekly honor roll. This is the second-straight week that Lewis has earned this accolade.
  • Mariner Women Place Second At Bard Invite

    The USMMA women’s cross country team came in second place at the Bard Raptors Invitational on Saturday in a race filled with tough Skyline Conference opponents. The Mariners (69 points) came in just one point behind invite-winner St. Joseph’s of Long Island and finished ahead of 2016 Skyline Champion Farmingdale State (third, 78 points).

    Earlier this week, the Skyline Conference announced the weekly honors for women’s cross country and USMMA sophomore Anna Lewis (Lakehead, Calif.) earned a spot on the weekly honor roll. This comes after Lewis’ performance in leading the Mariners to a third-place team finish this past Sunday at the Queensborough Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

    The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women’s cross country team competed in the Queensborough Invitational on Sunday at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The Mariners came in third place with a team score of 133, behind first-place Hunter College (55) and second-place JUCO school Monroe College (69).
  • Women’s Cross Country Finishes Sixth At Trinity’s Bantam Invite

    On Saturday, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women’s cross country team opened the 2017 season with a sixth-place showing at Trinity College’s Bantam Invitational at Wickham Park in Connecticut. The Mariners recorded 181 points at the event, while hosts Trinity scored 29 to win the Invite.

    The Skyline Conference released the preseason coaches polls for men’s and women’s cross country this past Tuesday and the USMMA men were picked to repeat as conference champions, while the women came in at fourth place – which was their finish at the 2016 championship meet.

    The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy held its 2017 Awards Convocation on Friday morning at the Ackerman Auditorium as part of Graduation Weekend festivities. Four major athletic award winners were announced during the ceremony – the Male and Female Athletes of the Year as well as the two Coaches of the Year – along with a number of other athletic awards and honors.

    The USMMA women’s cross country team finished in ninth place on Saturday at the 2016 ECAC Championship Meet, held at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome up in Ulster County. The Mariners finished with a score of 214 points on the day.

    On Wednesday, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its weekly award winners for women’s cross country and USMMA freshman Briana Broccoli (Herndon, Va.) was tabbed as the Division III Metro Rookie of the Week. The honor comes after her performance in the 2016 Skyline Conference Championship Meet this past Sunday, Oct. 30.

    The USMMA women’s cross country team participated in the Ninth Annual MSMC Knight Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Mount St. Mary College up in Orange County, N.Y. The Mariners came in sixth place at the event out of 21 teams that scored. Merchant Marine notched 199 points in the meet.

The All-Sportsmanship Team includes one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team. For women’s cross country, USMMA junior Mary Catherine Zehnder (Carle Place, N.Y.) was selected to the team.

    The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy will host the 2015 Landmark Cross Country Championship on Saturday, October 31st. All nine Landmark teams will travel to Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, N.Y. to compete for the first title of the fall season. The men's race is set to start at 11:00 a.m. followed by the women's race at noon.
