Glassboro, N.J. (Nov. 12, 2016) – The USMMA women's cross country team ended the 2016 season at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Meet, hosted by Rowan University, on Saturday. The Mariners placed 30th out of 43 teams that competed at the event.
Freshman Briana Broccoi (Herndon, Va.) led Merchant Marine in the 6K race with a season-best time of 23:45.2, which was good for 137th place. Classmate Sophia Tucker (Navarre, Fla.) came in 154th place in 24:03.9 and fellow freshman Anna Lewis (Lakehead, Calif.) followed with a 208th place finish with a time of 25:21.6.
Senior Mary Catherine Zehnder (Carle Place, N.Y.) and freshman Valerie Bowman (Newark, Ohio) closed out the scoring for the Mariners with back-to-back finishes as Zehnder finished 223rd in 25:44.6 and Bowman was 224th in 25:45.9.
