ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. (Sept. 17, 2016) – The USMMA women's cross country team came in ninth place out of a field of 19 teams at the Bard Raptors Invitational on Saturday up in Dutchess County. The Mariners scored 217 points with their top five finishes. Albany College won the meet with a score of 61 points.
A pair of freshman paced Merchant Marine, as Sophia Tucker (Navarre, Fla.) and Carissa Buonerba (Atlanta, Ga.) finished in 17th and 19th place, respectively, as Tucker crossed in 20:02 on the 5K course to earn 16 points and Buonerba was one second behind with a 20:03 for 18 points.
Junior Mache Mason (Dallas, Texas) was next to cross the finish line for USMMA, as she came in 54th place to earn 52 points with a time of 22:18. She was followed by sophomore Monica Keeley (West Hartford, Conn.), who placed 71st (63pts) in 22:47. Sophomore Erica Lawlor (Stafford, Conn.) closed out the Merchant Marine scoring with a time of 23:05, which was good for 80th place (68pts).

The Mariners return to action next Saturday, Sept. 24, when they travel up to Williamstown, Mass., to take part in the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College.
