Weekend preview: Cross country teams compete at ECAC championships

KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- As the fall sports season winds down, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's and women's cross country teams find themselves with yet another challenge and test – the ECAC Championships at Greylock High School in Williamston, Mass. on Saturday.

Nearly 100 ECAC programs – men and women and 700 student-athletes will compete.

The women's 6K run will start at 11 a.m., which will be followed by the men's 8K competition at noon.

Soccer

Only four days after upsetting second-seeded Drew University in the Landmark Conference semifinals, the No. 3 Mariners (10-6-1) can secure a spot in the NCAA Division III tournament by besting Catholic University (14-3-1) for the conference crown in Washington, D.C. at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

There will be no audio or video on the game. But Mariners fans can follow the game's progress via Twitter at @cuacardinals.

Football

The Merchant Marines (2-6, 1-3) conclude their home schedule against Union College (4-4, 4-1) on Senior Day at Tomb Field at 1 p.m. If you can't get to the game, you can listen on the Mariner Football Network, starting with the pre-game show at 12:30.

The Mariners are coming off a bye week due to final exams and will try to snap a two-game losing streak.
