KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 6, 2017) – On Wednesday night, the USMMA women's volleyball team lost on the road, 3-0, up at Manhattanville College (25-19, 26-24, 25-20). The loss was the Mariners' first of the year and dropped their record to 3-1, while the Valiants improved to 3-1.
Senior Dominique Pope (Silver Spring, Md.) and sophomore Kyleigh Kappas (Parker, Colo.) both registered double-doubles on the night – they both tied for the team-high with 13 digs, Pope led all players with 15 kills and Kappas dished out 20 assists. Two other players picked up double-digit digs, as junior Kate Lefler (Norman, Okla.) had 11 and senior Myckenzie Toler (Prunedale, Calif.) recorded 10. Senior Tichina Carmon (Greenville, N.C.) had six total blocks in the losing effort.
For Manhattanville, senior Asia-Morgohn Reid led the team with 10 kills and a .350 hitting percentage. Freshman Ari Ramos tallied 31 assists and four Valiants had double-digit dig nights – freshman libero Monica Lopez picked up a match-high 19, classmate Keisha Schutte added 13, junior Laura Livolsi chipped in with 11 and senior Meagan Dattoma recorded 10.
Up next, the Mariners take on William Paterson on the road this coming Saturday, Sept. 9, in Wayne, N.J. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Pioneers' Recreation Center.
