KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Oct. 21, 2015) – The USMMA women's volleyball team played its final match of the 2015 season on Wednesday night against non-conference opponent York College at the Liebertz Gymnasium. The Mariners came out victorious in straight sets, 25-10, 25-13, 25-6 to end the year with a 15-11 overall record, while the Cardinals fall to 4-17 in defeat.
Junior Jordy Macbeth (Orlando, Fla.) and sophomore Rebecca Snyder (Jacksonville, Fla.) both recorded a match-high 10 kills apiece, while freshman Megan Toler (Prunedale, Calif.) chipped in with seven, sophomore Dominique Pope (Silver Spring, Md.) registered five, classmate Kayla Gleason (Sound Beach, N.Y.) added four and junior Amanda See (Waukesha, Wisc.) and sophomore Emily Gramer (Denver, Colo.) both had one kill each. Gleason also contributed 30 assists on the night.
Defensively, freshman libero Nicole Ibinson (Fredericksburg, Va.) led all players with nine digs, while junior Gabby Marionakis (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) picked up seven, Gleason had five, Pope and freshman Hannah Hill (Parkersburg, W.Va.) added four each, junior Darin Zacharias (Virginia Beach, Va.) recorded three and Gramer had one.
Macbeth, Gleason and Hill all led Merchant Marine with two service aces apiece, while Toler, Pope, Ibinson and Zacharias all had one ace. Macbeth and Gleason combined for the only Mariner block in the match.
For York, sophomore Renee Daley and junior Shauncia McClendon both had a team-high five kills. Senior Kiranjeet Kaur dished out 10 assists and tied for the team lead with McClendon and sophomore libero Mary Pamolarco with five digs each.
